The Netherlands made history in Panama City after seeing off Cuba to become only the second European side in history to win the IBAF World Cup.
The Dutch produced their best performance for the Final as they defeated Cuba 2-1 with Rob Cordemans, Shairon Schoop and Mariekson Gregorius stepping up when it really mattered.
David Bergman got the final two outs in the ninth and earned the save, while Cuba was limited to a mere hit for seven innings and The Netherlands, who also beat Cuba in the match up of the second round, definitely deserve the title.
The third place game of the IBAF World Cup between Team USA and Canada was cancelled because of the severe weather that has hampered the whole tournament.
The game was originally scheduled at 11 o'clock local time, but the starting time was pushed, until the IBAF Technical Commission decided to cancel it.
The conditions of the field were not considered good enough to play two games of the importance of bronze and gold medal finals of a World Cup in a matter of hours.
