The inaugural Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup takes place at JBR Beach in Dubai from 22 – 26 November and marks the first major competition since September’s FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
Eight of the world’s top national teams will take place - UAE, Brazil, Russia, Oman, Tahiti, Nigeria, Mexico and Switzerland - and expect the South Americans to be fired up as they seek to reassert their dominance after Russia's shock victory over them in the World Cup in Italy.
In action for World Cup winners Russia this week though will be team captain Ilya Leonov, who was awarded the adidas Golden Ball for best player in the championship, and Andrei Bukhlitsky, who won the adidas Golden Glove for best goalkeeper. So the Brazilians may not have it all their own way.
Mexico and Switzerland kick things off at 12:30 (GMT), next up it's Russia v Nigeria at 13:45, before Brazil take on Oman at 15:00, while hosts UAE round off the the first day's action against Tahiti at 16:15.
