Bwin has announced that it has signed a three-year deal to serve as the title sponsor for the Padel Pro Tour.
Gibraltar-based
Bwin revealed that the deal will see the circuit marketed as the Bwin Padel Pro Tour while its Bwin.com online sportsbook is to serve as the series’ official betting partner with exclusive live streaming rights for all events.
“We are proud to be a partner of the Padel Pro Tour, a sport that is becoming more and more popular in Europe and across the rest of the world,” said Norbert Teufelberger, Co-Chief Executive Officer for Bwin.Party.
“It is exciting to play, exciting to watch and now it will be exciting to bet on.”
Still a relatively young sport with approximately ten million players, padel tennis was developed in South America during the late-1960s before being introduced into Europe via southern Spain in the mid-1970s. It is played on a small enclosed court using a stringless racquet and combines elements of table tennis, squash and tennis.
“In our sixth season, we are very satisfied to have Bwin.Party as a partner in this extraordinary spectacle that is professional padel tennis,” said Javier Ron, General Manager for the Padel Pro Tour.
“We believe that this agreement will contribute decisively to the growth of padel tennis and its expansion in Europe.”
