Lin Dan booked his place in Sunday's Hong Kong Open men's badminton final when he ended Lee Chong Wei’s superb record of reaching every Open final this year.
Lin will meet 2010 world champion Chen Jin, after he defeated Chen Long in his semi-final.
Wang Xin and Wang Yihan, who were both homing in on their fourth Super Series titles of the year, fought it out in the first women's semi.
It was Wang Xin who moved a step closer to another title, following a stylish performance which saw her triumph 21-12, 21-18 in 32 minutes.
Xin will play Tine Baun of Denmark in the final after the latter beat Wang Shixian in the other semi-final.
