Meralco Bolts and Rain Or Shine part ways in PBA Philippine Cup
The PBA Philippine Cup resumes today featuring the game between the Meralco Bolts and Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
Both teams sport 2-1 records but are coming off contrasting results in their last games.
Meralco beat the B-Meg Llamados 84-78 to secure its second-straight win following an opening-day defeat to Talk N Text. Chico Lanete erupted for 24 points and had nine assists. Backing him up were Mark Isip and Mark Borboran, who added 18 and 10 points, respectively.
It was a sweet win for the Bolts, who are without injured star players Mark Cardona, Sol Mercado and Chris Ross.
“We won our last two games because we limited our foes to an average of 75 points. We willcontinue to give defense great emphasis,” Meralco head coach Ryan Gregorio told pba.ph.
Rain or Shine, meanwhile, is coming off a 98-107 loss to Talk N Text, putting an end to its two-game winning start. ROS head coach Yeng Guiao will once again rely on rookie sensation Paul Lee, who has been impressive this season.
The former University of the East stalwart is the team's leading scorer and is coming off a 17-point output against the Texters. Lee is expected to get support from veterans Gabe Norwood, Beau Belga and Jervy Cruz.
