Talk N Text will try to make it three wins in a row over Powerade when they clash in Game 3 of their PBA Philippne Cup final showdown on Wednesday.
The Tropang Texters seized a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven series by taming the Tigers 102-96 last Sunday.
The speedy guard combo of Jimmy Alapag and Jayson Castro proved too much for Powerade. Alapag finished with 23 points while Castro added 19. Larry Fonacier and burly forward Ali Peek also made their presence felt, tallying 13 and 10 points, respectively.
The Texters led by as many as 12 points in the fourth quarter before Powerade came to within one in the crucial stages. But timely baskets from Alapag and Fonacier allowed TNT to run away with the victory.
"We still need to get two more. All we’ve done is move a step closer to our ultimate objective. We can’t relax, we can’t take our foot off the pedal because we’re expecting the mightiest fight-back from Powerade in Game Three," TNT head coach Chot Reyes said.
Powerade coach Bo Perasol, meanwhile, will once again bank on the trio of Gary David, JV Casio and Marcio Lassiter to deliver. David fired 30 points in Game 2 while Casio and Lassiter added 17 and 15 points, respectively.
