There is no more tomorrow for Rain or Shine and Powerade when they meet in Game 7 of their PBA Philippine Cup semifinal duel today.
The series was pushed to a deciding game after the Elasto Painters tamed the Tigers 112-98 last Sunday. Jeff Chan was spectacular in that game, finishing with 26 points on a 5-of-9 shooting from three-point range. One of his treys gave Rain or Shine a ten-point lead early in the fourth quarter, giving them enough cushion the rest of the way.
Rookie Paul Lee added 15 points while Ronnie Matias and Ronjay Buenafe chipped in 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Marcio Lassiter and Gary David led the Tigers with 30 points each but their efforts went down the drain.
"This is the biggest game for our franchise," Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao told gmanews.com.
"It's only proper that we give it our biggest effort. The stats and other numbers don't matter anymore in a Game Seven. It's pure heart and desire. We have invested so much in this series to let it go any other way but ours.
Powerade coach Bo Perasol is also looking forward to clinching the first Finals berth.
"It's going to be a game of will," he said.
"Whoever fights to win until the end will get the series. Our team intends to do just that."
