Love him or hate him, there is no denying Adrian Lewis’ quality and the reigning champion also showed that he can battle to victory by beating James Wade 6-5 last night in a thrilling semi-final.
Wade was on the verge of victory at 5-1 in a match which had earlier been delayed due to a draught apparently interfering with the flight of the darts, although Jackpot got his act together to claim the spoils.
Lewis is now a 2/5 chance to win the final for the second year running against an opponent who has taken everyone by surprise after coming through a top half of the draw which featured Phil Taylor, Dave Chisnall and Simon Whitlock.
Hamilton beat Whitlock in another amazing semi-final on Sunday night, coming back from 5-3 down to win 6-5 and he will have his backers at odds of 2/1 with Ladbrokes.
While The Hammer is clearly not a naturally fluent player like Lewis, his meticulous throwing style has stood him in good stead and he secured some big check-outs against the Wizard when it was necessary to do so.
Both players will be buzzing with confidence after their respective semi-final matches and we should look forward to a classic all-Stoke final. On the correct score market, Ladbrokes make a Lewis victory by 7-3 the favourite at 5/1, although we expect Hamilton to go a lot closer when it comes to winning his first world title.
