Simon Whitlock is running out of chances to qualify for the Championship League Darts Winners Group as Group Five gets underway today.
The Australian thrower has now failed to reach the Winners Group on four occasions now as Mark Walsh secured his place with a win over Mervyn King in the Final on Tuesday.
Whitlock does have another chance today after reaching the semi-finals and he will hopefully get the job done this time.
Walsh now joins Gary Anderson, Phil Taylor and Paul Nicholson in the Winners Group which will take place on Thursday October 20.
The Champions League Darts tournament reaches Group Five on Tuesday with eight players fighting for a place in the Winners Group.
Losing finalist on Tuesday will be joined by semi-final losers Whitlock and Colin Lloyd with Jamie Caven and Vincent van der Voort joining them from Group Four with Andy Smith, Colin Osbourne and Kevin Painter now entering proceedings.
Each day sees the players meet each other once during the league phase, before the top four contest the semi-finals and final to determine a group winner.
The runner-up, semi-finalists and the players who finish fifth and sixth in the league table progress to the next group, and are joined by the next three players from the PDC Order of Merit. The players who finish seventh and eighth in each group are eliminated.
Walsh is now 20/1 with BetFred to actually win the Championship League Darts after his success in Group Four, while Taylor is the obvious favourite at 8/11 with Anderson (10/3) and Nicholson (7/1) next in line.
