Premier League champion Gary Anderson will be looking to move a step closer to another majot title win when he takes on Mark Walsh in the semi-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts.
Gary Anderson and Mark Walsh will contest Sunday’s second semi-final at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall as they look to reach the final and meet either Adrian Lewis or Phil Taylor.
Anderson, who will take part in his third Grand Slam of Darts semi-final, booked his place with a 16-12 win over Terry Jenkins as the Scot was pushed all the way.
Anderson hit 10 180s against Jenkins, but he did not have it all his own way as Jenkins hit back from 13-7 to tail just 15-12 to leave the Scot feeling a little nervous.
But he eventually held his nerve by hitting double 10 to clinch the win and advance to the semi-finals.
Walsh reached only his second ever televised semi-final of his career with an outstanding 16-14 success over Ted Hankey on Saturday.
The Hertfordshire ace, whose only similar success in a televised major came when he reached the 2005 UK Open final, must rate this as the best victory of his career.
Walsh led 8-3 and 15-9 in the race to 16 legs before Hankey took five straight legs to threaten an incredible comeback.
Walsh missed five match darts as the tension mounted, but he regained his composure to finish 90 for a place in the semis.
Anderson is seen as the favourite here and he can be backed at 1/7 with Bet365, while Walsh is on offer at 9/2.
The winner of this clash will be the first to win 16 legs and you can gets odds of 10/1 that Anderson wins the tie 16-7, while Walsh can be backed at 50/1 to win 16-10.
