The World Darts Championship is the only major tournament which James Wade hasn't won and now that Phil Taylor has left the building, thanks to a second round defeat by Dave Chisnall this week, 2012 could well be his year.
Wade hasn't looked a world beater in the tournament thus far however, although it could be argued that he hasn't needed to as he has faced unseeded opposition in his first three matches.
John Part meanwhile, has produced the goods against seeded opposition. He put Kevin Painter to the sword in the last 16 on Thursday and he’ll fancy his chances here.
Part racked up a lot of 140’s in that match, which really put Painter under pressure, so Wade comes into the today's quarter-final knowing he has to up his game from the off.
Adrian Lewis or Terry Jenkins awaits the winner in the semi final in the New Year and both these capable of going all the way, this should be another cracker at the Ally Pally.
This best of nine sets match gets underway at 15:40 and is the second contest of the afternoon session. The third and fourth quarter-finals take place during an evening session from 19:40.
