Phil Taylor is the overwhelming favourite at 1/5 to advance to the World Grand Prix Darts quarter-finals in Dublin tonight.
Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor goes into his second round match against the talented Paul Nicholson as the odds on favourite as he chases a record 10th title win in this tournament.
Taylor booked his pace in the second round after being pushed all the way by Peter Smith in the opening round, while Nicholson will fancy his changes in the double-start tournament after seeing off veteran Richie Burnett.
One of the reason why Nicholson will fancy his chances against The Power is because he one of just a few players to have defeated the world number one twice in televised events in recent years.
‘The Asset’ got the better of Taylor in the 2010 Players Championship Finals and at the UK Open in June and he is ready to record a hat-trick tonight.
Nicholson, who can backed at 10/3 with Bet365 to knock out Taylor, said: “It's going to be fun and I think there will be a massive TV audience on Thursday.
"This is what darts is all about.
"You've got the person who has thrown the best darts in history in Phil against the person who wants to throw the darts to upset him.
"All I want to do now is cement what I've done this year and take the confidence that I've gained over the last 12 months into this game and give him a real battle. It's going to be hard, I know that, and I'll have to work hard in the next 36 hours, but I'll be ready for Phil."
