Benfica should have no trouble making it a sixth successive Champions League defeat for Romanian side Otelul Galati on Wednesday evening although it may not be as easy as the odds suggest.
The Champions League bills itself as 'Europe's Premier Club Competition' but sometimes there are sides involved that let down this badge and Otelul Galati are one. The Romanian champions have had to play their home fixtures in Bucharest, because their own ground doesn't meet UEFA standards and they have failed to manage a point in five matches this season.
That record looks set to be extended to 0-6 when they face Benfica in the Estadio da Luz on Wednesday evening. The Portuguese side are top of Group C and have already qualified for the knockout stage of the Champions League but can guarantee that they progress as winners if they beat their Romanian opponents.
Even without that motivation Benfica would have to be fancied. The Eagles are unbeaten in five matches in the Champions League this term and, although they are yet to win a home match, were comfortable 1-0 winners against Otelul Galati in the reverse of Wednesday's fixture.
Otelul Galati have not lost by more than five in any of their Champions League matches and they will be set up to avoid another heavy defeat in Lisbon.
