Second-from-bottom Bolton welcome high flying Newcastle United to the Reebook Stadium for an intriguing Boxing Day fixture on Monday.
Bolton have lost seven and won just one of their eight home games this campaign, an atrocious record by any standards. Owen Coyle's men look a far cry from the side who were sitting pretty in the top six of the Premier League at this stage of the season last year.
They come into this game on the back of a vital 2-1 victory over fellow relegation strugglers Blackburn however and a win here would edge them closer to safety.
The visitors, though sitting comfortably in seventh, will view this as a must win game also. After Bolton, Newcastle face the unenviable task of playing Liverpool and Manchester United in close succession, and given that they've taken just two points from their last six matches, the Magpies can ill afford to lose further ground on the European places.
Bolton full-back Paul Robinson is likely to come in for the injured Marcos Alonso.
While Newcastle have several absentees including defender Davide Santon, Peter Lovenkrands, Danny Guthrie, Steven Taylor and Sylvain Marveaux, though midfielder Yohan Cabaye returns from a suspension.
