Borussia Dortmund host Marseille in the final Group F fixture of the UEFA Champions League on December 6. The match will be played at the BVB Stadion, Dortmund.
Despite being placed last in the group, Dortmund has a chance of qualifying for the round of 16 in the Champions League. With four points in their kitty, a Dortmund win will push them to seven points, level on points with Marseille. But given Marseille’s 3-0 win in the previous match between the two sides, Dortmund will need to win by a margin of four or more goals to go through to the knock-out stage.
They will obviously also need Arsenal to defeat Olympiacos in the other Group F encounter. With a goal apiece, Ivan Perisic, Kevin Grosskreutz, Shinji Kagawa and Robert Lewandowski will be the players to watch out for Borussia Dortmund.
Marseille, with two wins and losses are currently second in the table but they still need a win to ensure qualification without the dependency on the other results. A draw will knock Borussia Dortmund out of the competition but will also leave the door open for Olympiacos.
In such a scenario, Olympiacos will only need a win to go through to the knockout stage at the expense of Marseille.
The Borussia Dortmund v Marseille Champions League match will kick off at 7.45 pm GMT.
