Northern Ireland refuse to give up hope of qualifying for Euro 2012 but to keep that dream well and truly alive they will need to beat Estonia on Tuesday.
Northern Ireland were beaten 1-0 by Serbia on Friday and that has put a massive dent in Nigel Worthington's side's chances of making the Euro 2012 playoffs.
They must now beat Estonia in Tallinn on Tuesday to have any chance of finishing second behind runaway leaders in Group C. If Northern Ireland fail to win, and Serbia, as expected, beat Faroe Islands, then it will make qualification almost impossible for the Irish.
It is 7/4, at bet365, that Northern Ireland do beat Estonia but it is very difficult to make a case for backing them at that price.
They did manage an impressive 1-0 win in Slovenia last September but since then they have suffered defeat in Serbia and a hugely disappointing draw in the Faroe Islands. They may have won the reverse of that fixture but that was little more than papering over the cracks in what is a very weak looking squad.
The fact that Paddy McCourt and Kyle Lafferty could be fit to face Estonia is, obviously, a huge boost for Worthington's men as the SPL duo offer some much needed creativity.
They will, however, find it difficult to break down a side that have become very solid defensively and held Serbia to a draw in March. Estonia also beat the Serbs in Belgrade and won away to Slovenia.
They did, unfortunately, suffer a home defeat to Slovenia and lost to the Faroes, results which have undermined their bid to qualify for a first ever major international tournament.
Estonia are now very unlikely to reach the playoffs but they can certainly cause problems for Northern Ireland and it may be worth a small bet on them either winning on Tuesday, at odds of 7/5, or drawing with the visitors, at a generous 23/10, two results which could prove fatal to the visitors' own qualification hopes.
