A win for Lille at home to Trabzonspor on Wednesday can seal the French champions' place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Lille had managed just two points after four matches in this season's Champions League but they go into the final match of Group B knowing that they can qualify for the last 16 of the competition if they can claim a win over Trabzonspor and CSKA Moscow don't beat Inter Milan in the San Siro on Wednesday night.
That is a far from impossible scenario and the bookmakers clearly think that the French champions can hold up their end of the bargain.
That is because Lille manager Rudi Garcia is committed to playing attacking football and fans of the 'beautiful game' will want to see more of Joe Cole, Eden Hazard and Moussa Sow. The latter has praised former England international Cole's contribution since moving to the Metropole.
"He [Cole] is a great pro," said Sow. "Along with [David] Rozenhal, he is the first in the locker room in the morning.
"He is always there ready, he is very involved and highly motivated, even when he's not playing. It's a surprise to see him like that. It was a gamble for the club, and so far it's been successful."
Trabzonspor have, by contrast, not got many players in attack that can turn a game and they have been poor recently. A win over Inter Milan earlier in the campaign may have been impressive but their recent performances have left a lot to be desired.
