Rayo Vallecano host Getafe for what should be a hard fought Madrid derby in the Campo de futbol de Vallecas
Rayo Vallecano and Getafe are two clubs that live in the shadows of Madrid giants Real and Atletico but both teams have proud histories and are looking to show that there is more to football in the capital than simply the big two. Getafe have managed this in recent years and Rayo are now looking to emulate and overtaken their neighbours.
Club captain Michel has claimed that there is no inferiority complex at the Camp de futbol de Vallecas and that the Rayo Vallecano players are keen to prove as much this afternoon.
"I have been at Rayo my whole life and it is a historic club throughout the region of Madrid. Not even when we were in the Segunda Division did we consider ourselves below Getafe," he said.
"At this moment in time Rayo has achieved a lot more in its history than Getafe, although it is true that in the last few years they have done well.''
It is 7/5 at
bet365 that Rayo beat their local rivals this afternoon and they will be boosted by the return of top scorer Michu and Getafe manager Luis Garcia has earmarked the striker as the biggest danger to his side.
"We have to pay a lot of attention to Michu because he is a great player. He has scored 10 goals this season and is one of the best in the league," said Garcia.
"I didn't like the first game we played against them at all. We played pretty badly and they were deserved winners. Since then we have got our injured players back, found our style of play and now the team is in good shape for the game.''
Getafe, who are 2/1 to win today, are without Daniel Guiza and that will seriously hinder their chances. It is 11/5 that they draw with Rayo Vallecano but this looks like it is set up for the home side to claim a win that will boost morale and their chances of remaining in La Liga.
