La Liga leaders Real Madrid will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the rankings when they host Levante on Sunday.
Sergio Ramos' 18th minute goal separated the two sides, although the free-flowing football Madrid are famed for was banished in a scrappy encounter.
Madrid never looked nervous, however, and it was clear from the foal that only one side was leaving the Coliseum Alfonso Perez as winners.
Levante had a bigger mishap in their match against Racing Santander last week, drawing with the 18th-placed side.
A goal from Arouna Kone put the home side out, was the advantage cancelled out by a second-half strike.
Levante now trail Madrid by 23 points and a massive 50 goal difference.
