Valencia should have no problem putting their Copa Del Rey disappointment behind them when they host Sporting Gijon in the Mestalla this evening.
Valencia were beaten in the Copa Del Rey semi finals by Barcelona during the week but defender Jordi Alba has claimed that the players are not too downbeat about the defeat and are now ready to focus on finishing in the top four of La Liga and reaching next season's Champions League.
"We have to think about the league now, as that is the competition that can lead us into the Champions League,'' he said.
Los Che have the chance to immediately return to winning ways this evening, when they take on Sporting Gijon in the Mestalla. It is 4/11 at
bet365 that Valencia beat the side who are second bottom of La Liga and look like being relegated to the Segunda this year.
Sporting midfielder Mate Bilic outlined how difficult it will be for his side in the Mestalla.
"We face a great team,'' he said. "Although they have lost the chance to play in a cup final, they are used to playing twice in a week and have very good players. But we have no choice but to try to win.''
Sporting are 8/1 to win this evening but they have been well beaten by both Real Sociedad (5-1) and Villarreal (3-0) in their last two away matches and Valencia are a stronger side than either of those two.
Top scorer Roberto Soldado is back for the home side and the Spain international is 12/5 to open the scoring. He will add a new dimension to Valencia's attack and that should see Los Che win by at least two goals, at odds of 20/21.
