Lee Westwood and his manager Chubby Chandler are going to ‘Hoof It’ to York on Wednesday on the bus!
Yes the world’s top golfer and his business partner are taking the 20 odd members of their office on a day out to York to watch their horse Hoof It run in the Duke of York Totepool Stakes.
“We’re hoping he runs well” says Chubby “ because he won the handicap on this day last year but he is taking on top opposition this time in the Group 2 race and he will come on for the run.”
Chubby and Westwood are great enthusiasts of racing and whenever the opportunity arises which is not often due to their heavy work schedule they try and make it to the track.
In Hoof It they have a horse who continues to do them proud and they’ve got another horse named Hoofalong also running at York on Wednesday in a later race.
And well done to them on organising a bus to take the workers for a day out at the races!
The Duke of York looks a red hot contest with Mayson going for the hattrick this season and Society Rock making his seasonal debut.
Restiadargent is an interesting raider from France whoi loves running on soft ground and The Cheka is also reported in top shape.
The Fugue who nearly did us a good turn when I tipped the horse each way in the 1,000 guineas- only to finish 4th at 22-1 – will hopefully gain compensation in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes.
“It’s only 10 days since the classic but she seems to have come out of the race well” says trainer John Gosden.
Good Morning Star who sprang a 50-1 surprise in the Chester Vase last week makes a quick return to the track and Aiden Obrien’s Twirl looks an Irish raider to respect!
Bonfire is the interesting colt among the 7 runners declared for the Betfred Dante Stakes on Thursday.
He has been earning rave revues on the gallops at Kingsclere although he is a bit of a character and I understand he does need sometimes a bit of coaxing to get him onto the gallops. Mind you when he gets there he works like a wonder horse!
It wilkl be interesting to see what happens in the Derby Trial because we need something to take on the Irish superstar Camelot!
