Exchange punters have been left mightily confused after Voler La Vedette was matched for over £1.6million at an incredible 29.00 on Betfair, moments before she crossed the line to win the Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown.
The Grade One-winning hurdler’s victory would result in a near £23 million payout for Betfair as her price failed to drop as she crossed the line for a sensational four and three quarter lengths victory over Mourad.
Betfair graphics showed that there was over £21.3m on offer on Voler La Vedette at the price and there are sure to be some confused Betfair punters as we wait to find out more from the world’s biggest betting exchange.
Meanwhile, the winner was an impressive winner of the race and delighted winning trainer Colm Murphy explained: "She was in great form and came out of her last race very well. She has loads of options, she could go back to two miles or have another three-mile race.
"She's in on Thursday but that's just an option in case something happened today. I would love to run her, but it probably wouldn't be the right thing to do.
"I had my heart set on the race tomorrow since the last day but after the ground dried up there was no decision. She's a different mare this year as she settles so well."
