Bristol lead the rankings with 51 points after picking up 11 victories, zero draws and three defeats from their opening 14 matches, while Bedford are three points behind their opponents with a record of nine wins and one draw.
Bristol head into this game on the back of a 14-16 defeat against Ayr RFC in the British & Irish Cup, while their last Championship league match ended up in a 23-3 triumph against Plymouth.
The Blues picked up a 25-25 draw in the British & Irish Cup against Llanelli, while they managed a narrow 24-23 success against Rotherham in their last Championship match.
Bristol, who have yet to lose at home in the league, will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to five games when Bedford come to the Memorial Stadium.
Head coach Liam Middleton has opted to keep with the blossoming half back pairing of Ruki Tipuna and Tristan Roberts, while Ross Johnston retains his place at hooker.
Bedford coach Mike Rayer has made a whole host of changes to his starting line-up as his side will be looking to move closer to Bristol at the top.
Rayer said: “Over the past few seasons we've thoroughly enjoyed some great battles with Bristol and I'm sure that we'll be in for much of the same on Friday night.
“It should be a intriguing contest and one that the lads are really looking forward to. The bulk of the starting team are fresh and have trained with a real spring in their step this week.
“It should be a cracking atmosphere down there and we know our performance levels will to go up several notches to get the result.”
The league leaders are the firm favourites to take the points and remain at the top and can be backed at 1/3 with
Bet365, while the Blues are on offer at 12/5 with the draw available at 22/1.
The home crowd will be looking for some Christmas cheer early on and they can be backed at 4/1 to take the lead courtesy of a try, while the visitors are 14/1 to edge in front with a drop goal.
Bristol will be confident of extending their impressive home record and will be looking to do it in style, so backing them for am 11-15 points win at 5/1 may be worth thinking about. Bedford are 40/1 to shock their hosts with a 21-25 points win, it may be a long shot but anything can happen in a top of the table clash.
