Judd Trump kicked off his 2011 Premier League campaign in style by taking the honours in Week Five in Weston-Super-Mare.
Trump, who is from Bristol, delighted the crowd at Hutton Leisure Centre by seeing off Mark Williams in the semi-final before taking Matthew Stevens apart in 40 minutes in the final.
Trump cruised into the final with an impressive 3-1 success over Williams, while Stevens got the better of John Higgins 3-2 in the other semi-final.
Trump started the final in blistering form with a break of 38 and 81 to lead 2-0 and leave Stevens on the back foot.
Stevens half recovered before Trump made a run of 49 to take the game 3-0.
Trump said: “I’m delighted really, coming into the event so late.
“That’s a good start and I need to get back in the mix over the next couple of weeks to get up there.”
“The second match is a lot easier; in the first you’re getting used to the conditions and there’s more pressure. In the second you can enjoy it.”
“Matt was playing the better snooker, he dominated the semi-final. It’s always important to get in front against the top players as it gives you the confidence.”
