Mark Allen goes up against Ding Junhui in Group Five of the Championship League Snooker event as they both look to advance to tonight’s play-offs.

Today sees Group Five take centre stage once more with Mark King, Matthew Stevens, Mark Allen, Ding Junhui, Ryan Day, Ricky Walden and Liang Wenbo all battling it out to join Mark Selby, Mark Williams, Shaun Murphy and Ali Carter in the Winners Group.

In each group every player will play each other once in a best of five frame match after which the top four players will contest in the play offs – semi-finals and final over the best of five frames.

Players will be awarded one point for each match won, then most frames won and the least frames lost in the league series will determine their position in the league table. Dead frames will not be played in either the league or knock-out stages.

The play-off winner will progress to the final league of the Championship League Snooker while the players coming sixth and seventh in the group will be relegated and will not feature in any further group matches.

Allen managed to pick up two victories over Matthew Stevens and Liang Wenbo from his three matches on Monday, while Ding defeated both Ricky Walden and Mark King with his only loss coming against Liang Wenbo.
