Both came through a tough set of matches to reach this stage and will travel to Germany as two of the strong contenders for the £10,000 title.
Nottingham cueist Holt comes into the event on a high after winning his first career PTC title at PTC 10 in November; he will be out to cause another upset by defeating legend Hendry this evening.
The Crucible King will be hoping for a good run to stand any chance of reaching the Grand Finals in March.
Despite dropping out of the top 16, Hendry appears to have recaptured some promising form on the tour and has proved he still has what it takes to live with the big boys.
The duo last met way back in 2008 at the Welsh Open, with Hendry taking a comprehensive 5-1 victory on that occasion.
The bookmakers make Hendry the 8/11 favourite to progress, with Holt offering value at EVS with Bet365.
