The Qatar Open continues on Thursday with a whole host of matches being streamed live online from Doha.
Some of the world best paddlers are in action this week in Doha, along with some future champions of the sport.
On Wednesday number one seed Jung Young Sik from Korea advanced to the second round of the Under 21 Men’s Singles with an 11-6 11-4 11-2 victory over Bahrain’s Hasan Juma.
Juma, who does not have a lot experience outside of the Middle East, was proud of his showing. He said: “It’s the first time that I’ve played in a senior international tournament.
“Just everything was too much; his services were too good, so many changes and the amount of top spin on the ball was too strong.”
Although Jung Young Sik was expected to cruise through his tie there was one upset in the opening round of the Under 21s event. Second seed and Japanese champion Maharu Yoshimura was beaten by Germany’s Philipp Floritz (11-6 13-15 11-7 13-11).
