Table Tennis live streams can now be viewed online - Table tennis tournaments such as the Table Tennis Challenger Series and ETTU European Championships are available online.
The Table Tennis Challenger Series and the European Championships are just two of the major competitions that are being streamed live online.
The Table Tennis Challenger Series is a weekly international tournament featuring the world’s top 50 players taking part in separate weeks from Monday until Wednesday and sees eight players taking part over the three days.
The eight players play over the three days and try to pick up as many points as possible in a bid to be one of the best eight players at the end of the weekly stages.
After the weekly rounds have been completed the top eight players will take part in a Final Tournament to grant the overall winner – Players have to compete in at least 10 tournaments to qualify for the final.
Petr David, Thomas Keinath, Alexsandar Karakasevic and Miroslav Horejsi are just four of the players involved each week in their quest to be crowned the Table Tennis Challenger Series Champion.
The ETTU European Championships is the other major tournament that is streamed live online.
The European Championships first took place in 1958 and from that year until 2002 the tournament was held every two years in the even number. But from 2003 it was changed to be held every two years in the odd number.
That all changed in 2008 when it was decided by the ETTU that the European Championships should be held every year.
Originally the tournament comprised of seven separate competitions - the Men’s single, double and team events, Women’s single, double and team events and the mixed doubles.
From 2009 the tournament now holds just six events with the European Mixed Double Championships now a separate event of its own.
The 2011 event, which was streamed live online, was held in Poland saw Germany and Holland take out the team event for both men and women, with German Timo Boll winning the men’s single title with a win over countryman Patrick Baum, while Dutch woman Li Jiao took the women’s crown with a Final win over German Irene Ivancan.
In the doubles event Marios Freitas and Andrej Gacina took home the men’s title with a win over Alexander Shibaev and Kirill Skachov, while the women’s event was won by Ruta Paskauskiene and Oksana Fadeeva after they defeated Daniela Dodean and Elizabeta Samara.
