Andy Murray will be looking to make it back-to-back tour titles when he joins Rafael Nadal at ATP Tokyo this week.
The stars of the ATP Tour are all in Tokyo this week with world number two Rafael Nadal back in action after leading Spain to the Davis Cup final last month.
Nadal is defending his title having beaten Gael Monfils to win Tokyo last year. However Nadal has not picked up a tour title since winning a sixth French Open in June and he'll be keen to end that drought.
Andy Murray will be seeded second and he's in fine form after winning the Thailand Open last week, dropping just one set in the process. However Murray was busy afterwards talking down his chances for this week as he won't get much of a chance to adjust to the slower hard courts in Tokyo.
"It's a big change of surface and Tokyo's not that close," Murray said. "I may have to be realistic in my expectations a bit."
Former champion David Ferrer will be looking to move a step closer to qualification for the ATP World Finals. Ferrer currently lies a comfortable fifth in the race and could seal his spot over the next few weeks.
The same goes for Mardy Fish who's hoping to qualify for the finals for the first time. Fish would prefer a faster surface this week but he's been in fantastic shape this year and will have been bitterly disappointed with his fourth round exit at the US Open.
Watch out for local favourite Kei Nishikori who impressed hugely in Kuala Lumpur last week, reaching the semis and in front of home fans, he may just rise to the occasion.
