Andy Murray has conceded that he may have to withdraw from the ATP WTF 2011 because of a groin injury.

Murray, who needed medical assistance in the first and the second set of his game against David Ferrer in the ATP WTF 2011, lost the match 6-4, 7-5. This means that the third-seeded Scot is left with the arduous task of defeating both, Tomas Berdych and Novak Djokovic in the remaining two matches.

However, the more pertinent point now will be whether Murray is fit enough to compete in the tournament. Murray revealed little other than the fact that he suffered from the injury going into the tournament, and that he will look to see how it goes before announcing his decision.

With Murray to play Berdych in his next match Wednesday, time will be of essence for the third-seed.

Murray said, “I’ll decide tomorrow [Tuesday] whether or not I keep playing. You’ve got to sometimes do the right thing. I haven’t been able to do too much training this week. I played, [and] didn’t feel particularly great.”

Murray also added that had it been a non-vital tournament, he would have probably withdrawn long back.

According to the rules of the tournament, world No 9 Janko Tipsarevic will replace Murray if he did pull out of the tournament. Then, in theory, Tipsarevic could even go on to enter the semi-finals of the tournament.
