After the singles matches left the score delicately poised at 2-2, the Czech duo of Lucie Hradecka and Kveta Peschke got the better of Maria Kirilenko and Elena Vesnina in a doubles match decider.

Petra Kvitova had gotten the Czech side off to a bright start. At 0-3 down in the third set of her match against experienced Fed Cup competitor Svetlana Kuznetsova, the world No. 2 somehow took back the momentum to clinch a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 victory.

When Kvitova put her team within touching distance of the title, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova needed to beat Lucie Safarova to keep the tie alive. Pavlyuchenkova didn’t disappoint, and set up a thrilling finale with a 6-2, 6-4 win.

Following his side's victory, Czech captain Petra Pala remarked, "I'm glad that we won it, and it's a great feeling. We really want to enjoy it today. I think all the girls and myself and the whole team, you know, it's an unbelievable feeling."
