The quarter-finals of the Fed Cup 2012 World Group I and II will be played on February 4 and 5 this year.
According to the draw, the top-seeded Russian side will play Spain at Moscow in an indoor hard court. Fourth seeded Belgium take on Serbia at Charleroi in the second quarter-final. They will play on the same indoor hard surface.
Third-seeded Italy play Ukraine at Biella on indoor clay while the second-seeded Czech Republic take on Germany at Stuttgart in an indoor hard court.
The winner of the Russia-Spain match takes on the either Belgium or Serbia in the semi-final while the Italy-Ukraine winner plays one of Germany or Czech Republic at the last-four stage.
In the World Group II, the quarter-final line-up will see USA play Belarus at Worcester, MA in United States. This tie will be played on indoor hard courts. Fourth seeded Japan play Slovenia in another quarter-final at Tokyo on an outdoor hard court, while third-seeded Slovakia take on France at home on an indoor hard court. Second-seeded Australia travel to Granges-Paccot in Switzerland to play the hosts on indoor clay.
The four losing teams in these quarter-finals will go on to play the four winning teams from the World Group II in the playoffs for the next year.
