Janko Tipsarevic will be hoping to clinch Davis Cup victory for Serbia when he takes on Michael Ryderstedt on Sunday afternoon.
Serbia will be feeling a little frustrated that they haven't wrapped this tie up already. They won both the opening day's singles rubbers and had their chances in an epic doubles rubber on Saturday but the Swedes defied the odds to pull off a memorable 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-7(3), 10-8 win over Tipsarevic and former Wimbledon doubles champion Nenad Zimonjic.
“We can only congratulate Sweden and try to recuperate for the reverse singles,” Serbia team captain Bogdan Obradovic said afterwards. “They served well and deserved their win. Tipsarevic now faces a tough psychological battle against Ryderstedt but I am sure he will come out with a winner’s mentality and hopefully seal the tie before the final singles rubber."
Sweden will be hoping that they have worn Tipsarevic out. The world number nine eased through his singles rubber against Filip Prpic on day one but Ryderstedt will fancy his chances of exploiting those weary legs.
Ryderstedt may be ranked 346 in the world but he always performs above his ranking in Davis Cup and he pushed Viktor Troicki to four sets on day one.
Prediction: Tipsarevic to sneak through in four.
