The tie is currently poised at 1-1, with a doubles match and a singles tie between Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Milos Raonic still to be played.
Ranked 80 places above Pospisil, Benneteau will enter this matchup as the favourite. He suffered a fairly one-sided 6-2, 6-4, 7-5 loss against Raonic in his first singles rubber, and will be keen to get a point for his team.
Pospisil also lost his opening singles match, falling 6-1, 6-3, 6-3 to Tsonga. “It was a very tough match,” admitted the Canadian. “I was expecting a tough match obviously playing a guy who’s ranked sixth in the world. Maybe I had a nervous start and did a few things that were sub-par for me like my serve. But it was tough. He made very few unforced errors and he played a great match.”
Benneteau should be able to come good on Sunday, but with so much to possibly play for, Pospisil won’t struggle for inspiration. This could be a very exciting contest.
