Austria's Jurgen Melzer looks to seal a place in the Davis Cup quarter-finals for his country when he plays Alex Bogomolov on Sunday.
Austria have exploited some very bizarre decisions from the Russian team to take a 2-1 lead and be on the verge of reaching the quarter-finals going into day three. Bogomolov Jnr is the second ranked Russian player but the Russia's opted not to field their no 1 Mikhail Youzhny on day one and it backfired spectacularly as Austria took a 2-0 lead with Bogomolov losing in straight sets to Andreas Haider-Maurer and Igor Kunitsyn going down to Melzer in five.
Youzhny returned for Saturday's doubles, teaming up with Nikolay Davydenko to keep the tie alive and although it's Bogomolov who's scheduled to play this rubber, do not be surprised if it's those two who are nominated on Sunday.
Youzhny won the Zagreb title last week and in his current form he'll fancy his chances of defeating Melzer especially as he leads 4-2 on the head-to-head.
Bogomolov beat Melzer in the only match they've played to date but that was in ATP qualifying over eight years ago and as we saw on day one, this fast indoor surface really doesn't suit the Russian.
Prediction: Youzhny to return and defeat Melzer in straight sets.
