Jurgen Zopp will take on Marius Copil in the final of the Kazan Kremlin Cup 2012 on Sunday.
Zopp, seeded eighth in the tournament, was awarded a walkover in the semi-final by sixth seeded Russian Teymuraz Gabashvili because of an injury. Earlier, Zopp did not drop a single set throughout the tournament to get to the last-four stage of the tournament.
The Estonian seeded player defeated Thomas Fabbiano in the first round – the only match in which he was stretched to a tie-breaker in one of the sets. Zopp then defeated Harri Heliövaara in the second round 6-3, 6-2 before crushing Ruben Bemelmans in the quarter-finals, 6-2, 6-0.
Copil, who had stunned the second seeded Andreas Haider-Maurer of Austria in the second round and needed three sets to defeat Russian Alexander Kudryavtsev in the quarter-finals, did not break too much of a sweat in the semis. He brushed aside Ivo Minar in the last-four stage match, 6-3, 6-4 to make it to the final.
The two players have never played each other before and will look to assert their authority on the opponent in their first meeting.
The Copil v Zopp Kazan Kremlin final will begin at 2pm local time on February 5.
