Vera Zvonareva has her sights firmly set on her third successive title at the PTT Pattaya Open in Thailand this week.

World number three Zvonareva has ruled supreme in Pattaya City for the past couple of years and in the pre-tournament ceremony she was honoured with the keys to the city.

The 26 year old has risen to the top of the rankings over the past year through her admirable consistency on all surfaces and she's continued to shine at the start of 2011, reaching the Australian Open semi-finals before going down to eventual champion Kim Clijsters in straight sets.

Her main challenge could come from second seed Ana Ivanovic, on a determined march back to the higher echelons of the game. Ivanovic ended 2010 with a bang, claiming two titles in the autumn  and although she will be disappointed with her recent first round exit at the Australian Open, she should go far this week.

The experienced Daniela Hantuchova is seeded fourth but the Slovak struggled with an achilles injury in Australia and is not at her best.

The Chinese women's contingent are slowly making their mark on the tennis world and watch out for sixth seed Peng Shuai who surprised many people with her fourth round run at the US Open.

The conditions in Thailand favour the players in the best physical condition and Italy's in-form duo Roberta Vinci and Sara Errani certainly fit that mould. They also arrive in Thailand high on confidence after helping their country to a convincing 4-1 win over Australia in the Fed Cup.
