Milos Raonic and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga clash in a crunch Davis Cup rubber on day three of Canada's tie against France.
The rise of Raonic over the past twelve months has suddenly made Canada one of the premier nations in the Davis Cup. 2010 finalists France are huge favourites to win this tie but on day one, Raonic rose to the occasion to take out the dangerous Julien Benneteau 6-2, 6-4, 7-5 to thrill his home fans.
"My job is to take care of my serve and hopefully the rest goes the right way and I did that and that’s always a goal and I’m really happy with that,” Raonic said. “What I did well was keep a really good level for the whole match and the focus I maintained really paid off.”
But now can he go up an extra notch and take out world number six Tsonga over best of five sets ? Raonic certainly has the capability to test the world's top ten players, he beat Janko Tipsarevic in the Chennai Open final last month and Tsonga will fear his serve.
It will be a fascinating rubber and has the potential to go the distance. Tsonga has an 8-2 win-loss record in Davis Cup and he will be hoping his experience makes the difference but do not be surprised if Raonic rides off the support of his fans to pull off a shock win.
