Serbia’s top seeded player Novak Djokovic will be up against world number 286 Nicolas Devilder in the third round at the French Open 2012.

Djokovic has had a couple of easy matches in this season’s French Open 2012, winning his opening two rounds in straight sets.
First up was Potito Starace, who managed to take the opening set to a tie-breaker, but that was as far as he went in trying to shock the world number one. Djokovic won the remaining two sets 6-3, 6-1 before demolishing his second round opponent, Blaz Kavcic, 6-0, 6-4, 6-4 to make it to the third round.
Up against him is one of the lowest ranked player on show in the tournament, Frenchman Devilder. Devilder needed three wins in the qualifying rounds of the French Open to enter the main draw. Then he defeated Filip Krajinovic in the first round and overcame Michael Berrer in the second to set this clash against the top seeded Djokovic.
His previous best performance at a Grand Slam was a second round at Wimbledon and US Open, making this a job well done already.
Interestingly, the only time these two players have played against each other was way back in 2005 in a Challenger. Devilder beat Djokovic in the quarter-final of Monza Challenger then in a three-setter. This time, Djokovic will be favourite to steamroll over his opponent.
The Djokovic v Devilder match will be the fourth match on the Court Suzanne Lenglen on Friday with the first to begin at 11 am.
