Tomas Berdych is looking to reach his first ATP final of 2012 when he takes on Philipp Kohlschreiber in Montpellier.
Berdych enjoyed a third successive win over Nicolas Mahut in Friday's quarter-finals. It wasn't always easy for the top seed, up against a serve-volleyer on a fast indoor surface but he hit back from a 3-0 second set deficit to win 6-3, 6-4.
"So far everything’s going pretty well," Berdych commented. "I have a second match under my belt. The very important thing in my game is serve. It was working pretty well, [except] for one game where I lost maybe a bit of concentration and lost that game, but finally was able to finish it in straight sets, so happy for that. It’s going to be another semi-final, which is a solid week so far, but I don’t want to end up with that, so try my best and try to go through."
Kohlschreiber pulled off a bit of an upset, producing a brilliant performance to take out fourth seed Richard Gasquet 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in the last eight, smashing down 18 aces along the way.
"I came out with a good start. I had the right tactic. Maybe he was not 100 per cent in the match in the beginning, so I felt I had a little bit of chance. I put a lot of pressure, I played very, very high quality tennis, and overall I served very well. It was a very good match for me."
However Berdych has won six of their past seven matches and is strong favourite for this one.
