Yanina Wickmayer is scheduled to meet Shahar Peer on Friday in the semi-finals of the Moorilla Hobart International.Watch and bet on Wickmayer v Peer live for free at bet365 > live streaming > tennisYanina Wickmayer wasted little time on Thursday as she cruised through to the semi-finals of the Moorilla Hobart International with a 6-4, 6-0 thrashing of Simona Halep. The top seeded Belgian will be pitted against Shahar Peer in the semi-final, who edged past Anna Chakvetadze with a retirement victory.
Now that she seems to have put her injury woes behind her, Wickmayer is setting her sights on the top ten. “I'm just trying to improve my game, maybe when I was (ranked) 12, maybe my game wasn't ready to be top 10, maybe that's why I had to go through a couple of steps to improve my game,” said Wickmayer.
“It made me realise the top 10 is special, only 10 girls in the world are top 10 and it's the next step. I'm trying to improve my game every day and be mentally strong, because tennis is a lot in the head also, as long as I'm improving every day, I guess we will see what the future brings.”
Wickmayer’s immediate focus will have to be on her semi-final clash against Peer. Peer is a dangerous opponent, but she wasn’t playing particularly well against Chakvetadze on Thursday. The No. 1 seed should be able to progress here.
