Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne are in the race to host the final of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup.
CA chief executive James Sutherland has said that the Adelaide Oval, which will be redeveloped for the 2015 edition of the tournament will be one of the stadiums considered for the final.
According to Sunderland, the stadium at Adelaide will be able to hold around 50,000 fans after its reconstruction. It was former South Australian Cricket Association boss John Harnden, currently the chief execcutive officer of 2015 World Cup, who got the Adelaide the nod.
Sydney’s ANZ Stadium which recently hosted the first T20I between India and Australia was criticised by the visitors for lacking the facilities needed for an international venue. Melbourne’s MCG is the other option for the final.
According to South Australian Cricket Association chief Keith Bradshaw, "We will have the best ground in Australia. We would love to host the World Cup final... and I would assume there would be a balanced scorecard which would look at a number of different criteria, not just the number of tickets sold."
