IPL 2012 auction list and schedule

The auction for the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League will be held on February 4 this year.

Each player in the IPL 2012 auction has been assigned a base price below which the teams cannot bid for him. The nine IPL franchises have been allocated an additional purse of $2 million for their purchases this season. Teams can have up to 33 players in their squads.

Before the auction, the teams were allowed a transfer window where the teams could deal amongst themselves for either transfers or exchange of players. Six players changed their team during this period; Andrew McDonald (Delhi Daredevils to Bangalore), Kevin Pietersen (Deccan to Delhi), Dinesh Karthik (Punjab to Mumbai), Harmeet Singh (Deccan to Punjab), R Satish (Mumbai to Punjab) and Pragyan Ojha (Deccan to Mumbai).

There were also three players who had joined the teams as injury replacements in the middle of the last season and were retained by their respective sides; Chris Gayle (Bangalore), Sourav Ganguly (Pune) and David Miller (Delhi Daredevils).

Four domestic players were selected without going through the auction route; Harshal Patel (Bangalore), Pawan Negi, Manpreet Juneja, Kuldeep Raval (all Delhi Daredevils). 

Delhi Daredevils also bought out the contracts of four of their players in a bid to free up some more money for the auction; Robert Frylinck, S Sriram, Vivek Yadav, Rajesh Pawar.
