It always seemed likely that the Punjab attack would be meat and drink to Gayle and AB de Villiers and that was exactly what happened, with the West Indian hammering the ball to all parts of the ground to see his side home.
The worrying thing for Gilchrist is that Sunday’s opposition have batsmen capable of similar brutal hitting and it does not auger well for their chances of victory, with the prices reflecting the hosts’ superiority.
