A Historical View:
The last time Bangalore and Chennai played each other, it ended in a thrilling finish. For most part of the game, it looked like Bangalore would run away winners, before Albie Morkel slammed 28 off the penultimate over of the match to bring Chennai back into the game.
Otherwise, both teams have played seven games apiece and won four each. This gives them eight points each, which is the same as two other teams in the table, making them joint-third on points behind Delhi and Kolkata.
Probable selection:
Chennai made a few changes to their playing 11 two games ago, dropping Murali Vijay and getting S Badrinath to open with Faff du Plessis. The move has worked well for the side so far and we should continue to go with the pair at the top of the innings.
The one change that one could see in the line-up is the selection of Albie Morkel, who is back in Indian after attending the funeral of a very close friend of his. If Morkel comes in then one of Nuwan Kulasekara or Doug Bollinger will go out of the playing 11 for the side.
MS Dhoni will look to his spinners, especially R Ashwin to make things difficult for Chris Gayle.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore had T Dilshan selected in the previous game, in place of Andrew McDonald, and he immediately delivered with a sizzling half-century. He batted through the innings and helped Bangalore beat Rajasthan. He should continue in the 11.
Bangalore also brought in Apanna in the previous game and he immediately responded with four wickets. He should get another chance in this match as well, but the track will have a lot less the previous one and the Super Kings could go after him.
Zaheer Khan and Daniel Vettori will spearhead the bowling attack, with the quick bowler in decent form this tournament. It is the bowling of Vettori that is a bit of a worry for the side.
