The two bottom-placed teams in the Ryobi One-Day Cup 2011, New South Wales and Western Australia, will play each other on December 10.
Western Australia will host the match at the WACA in Perth and will hope for a much better showing than before. They have played five games and lost all of them to be left with almost no chance of finishing in the top two.
Most of the five defeats have been one-sided, including one against the New South Wales side in the previous game at Sydney. Batting first, Western Australia were bowled out for a paltry 199 after slumping to 50/6 at one stage. New South Wales required only 43.2 overs and the loss of five wickets to win the game.
New South Wales Blues lost their opener to South Australia despite putting up 261 before winning a stunning game against Victoria. It was arguably the match of the season as Daniel Smith smashed an unbeaten 185 to help his team chase down 324 in only 40.4 overs.
They beat South Australia, lost to Queensland, overcame Western Australia and lost a low-scoring thriller to Tasmania in the games that followed and now have 12 points from six games.
The Western Australia v New South Wales Blues Ryobi One-Day Cup 2011 match will begin at 11.15 am local time (3.15 am GMT) on December 10.
