Bergamo and Pesaro duel in CEV Women's Champions League Playoffs 12
Bergamo and Scavolini Pesaro face off in an all-Italian duel in the CEV Women's Champions League Playoffs 12 on Thursday.
Bergamo finished third in Pool D with seven points. They are coming off successive defeats to Rebecchi Piacenza (Italian Serie A1), Vakifbank Istanbul (Champions League) and Urbino Volley (Coppa Italia).
Pesaro, meanwhile, placed second to Dinamo Moscow in Pool E with 12 points. They are coming off a 3-2 win over Parma Volley in the Serie A1. Prior to that match, they absorbed back-to-back defeats to Busto Arsizio (2-3) and Dinamo Moscow (0-3) in the Serie A1 and Champions League, respectively.
"We have already played Scavolini in the national league and even though they changed a lot since last year, they still remain a very strong and solid team," Bergamo coach Davide Mazzanti said.
"I know it won’t be an easy task but we have been training hard in the past few days to get ready, improve the quality of our play and forget our exclusion from the finals of the national cup."
