The CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup takes place in Denmark this weekend with as the quest to reach the 2012 London Olympics continues.
Copenhagen is the host city for this weekend’s CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup with some of Europe’s top nations of men and women battling it out to be a part of the Olympics.
The top three countries from each gender will move onto the next stage of the tournament and move a step closer to Horse Guards Parade where the London 2012 Olympic Games beach volleyball tournament will take place next year.
The men’s tournament will feature teams from the Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Romania, Portugal and hosts Denmark with Dutch pair Reinder Nummerdor and Richard Schuil and Italian brothers Matteo and Paolo Ingrosso leading the charge alongside fellow FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour regulars and local tandem Bo Soderberg and Anders Lund Hoyer.
The women’s contest will see teams from Austria, Bulgaria, Estonia, Greece, Slovenia and Denmark compete.
Austria travel to the Scandinavian country with the most experience, however they will be without Doris Schwaiger after she suffered an injury to her back which means she will be side-lined for two months. Cornelia Rimser steps into her position alongside Doris’ sister Stefanie.
