The FIVB Swatch World Tour Beach Volleyball season is nearly at an end with the Phuket Thailand Open being streamed live online at Bet365.
The Phuket Thailand Open will be staged in the resort city from Tuesday November 1 until Sunday November 6.
After a fantastic season the women’s FIVB Swatch World Tour will end in Thailand with the home nation looking to set down a marker for next season.
Thailand have not featured heavily on the International scene over the past couple of years, but after securing a new sponsorship deal they are looking to take the Swatch World Tour by storm in 2012 and be highly competitive.
Thailand coach Petcharat Putsorn, who along with the Thailand Volleyball Association is helping prepare the teams for the 2012 season, said the teams will use the Phuket Thailand Open as a way to test themselves against the world’s top teams.
He said: “It is our target to get the Thai teams through to the second day of the main draw competition, if we can achieve this goal, then we know we have the ability to make an impact next year.
“Of course it won’t be easy for us in our first year on the Tour as we will have to play in the qualifying rounds at most of the tournaments as our teams do not have any ranking points.
"It is our goal to use 2012 to gain the necessary experience and pick up as many points as possible, so that we can launch a strong challenge in 2013 with the goal of getting at least two teams into the world’s top 50.”
This year’s Thailand Open will be the sixth time the tournament has been staged by the resort city of Phuket and some of the world’s best women beach volleyball players will be on hand to help bring the curtain down on a very successful season.
The last five years of the Phuket Thailand Open has seen an American pair take out the top prize and they will be looking to add to that tally in 2011, although Brazil will be breathing down their necks in a bid to stop the Americans good fortune from running on.
