The Women’s European Volleyball Championship continues this week with a number of high profile matches on offer in Italy and Serbia.
Co-host Italy are the two-time defending champions in this tournament after they defeated the Netherlands in the final two years ago in Lodz, Poland.
This year, Italy is bracketed in Pool B with Turkey, Azerbaijan and Croatia. The Dutch will see action in Pool D with 17-time champion Russia, Bulgaria and Spain.
Serbia, which is coming off a third-place finish in the FIVB World Grand Prix, will feature in Pool A along with Germany, Ukraine and France. Pool C, meanwhile, is composed of Poland, Romania, Israel and the Czech Republic.
The top-ranked teams in each pool will automatically progress to the quarter-finals while the second and third placers will feature in the playoffs. The last-ranked team after group play will be eliminated.
The Italian cities of Monza and Busto Arsizio will host the Pool B and Pool D matches, respectively. The Serbian cities of Belgrade and Zrenjanin will play host to the Pool A and Pool C matches, respectively.
